Dr Gita Robson

My name is Gita and I am a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist and trained ISTDP Therapist. I work privately here at Breathe Clinical Psychology and also within the NHS.

I have been working in mental health settings for over 20 years. Over this period I have worked across a variety of settings and with different patient groups. A consistent interest has always been adult mental health and wellbeing and this is where my expertise lies.

I focus on helping people to overcome emotional health challenges and get back to living a life that is meaningful. This might include coping skills to deal more effectively with stress, motivation to pursue meaningful activities or even therapeutic work to process traumatic experiences. My goals in therapy are always to help the client move closer to the life they want to live.

Specialist in Stress, Physical Symptoms and Long Term Health Conditions

In addition to treating common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression I have a special interest in the links between mental health and physical health. I am particularly interested in the way in which stress affects the body at a physical level, which can sometimes result in problematic physical symptoms like persistent pain or other symptoms which cannot be medically explained. Some of my work also involves working with people who are adjusting to living with long term health problems, such as kidney disease, diabetes, and gastroenterological problems. Find out more here.
